Ryan Valdivia (She/They) is an engaging artist and musician who strives to share new stories and experiences with their audiences. She seeks out collaborations and new ways to connect performance to community. Ryan is a founding member of The Wayword Ensemble, a musical storytelling group dedicated to the fundamental connection between all things, and the internationally recognized Robin Brass Quintet. Continuing to seek out new collaborative opportunities they have been featured in performance at the Overture Center for the Arts and with the Madison Chamber Players.
In addition to performing, creating new music and teaching are core pillars of Ryan’s Artistry. She is an active composer and arranger of chamber music. Her music has been performed by The Wayword Ensemble and featured at the National Trumpet Competition. As a teacher, Ryan offers lessons in trumpet, composition, and professional development for musicians.
Ryan is currently based in Madison, Wisconsin and currently serves as the Membership Coordinator for the Madison Chamber Players. They hold a Bachelor’s of Music Performance from Illinois State University, and are currently pursing a Master’s of Music in Brass Performance from the University of Wisconsin. Ryan’s primary teachers include Dr. Anne McNamara and Jean Laurenz.
